Cookie Policy
Last Updated: 5 June 2025
This page explains what cookies are, how Heirloom Desk uses them on this website, and the choices available to you. We aim to keep this explanation plain and straightforward. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They are read by the website on your next visit, which helps the site remember your preferences or understand how it was used.
Cookies themselves do not run programmes or carry viruses. They are simply short pieces of text. Most browsers accept them automatically, but you can adjust your browser settings to refuse them if you prefer.
Alongside traditional cookies, some websites use localStorage — a browser feature that stores slightly more data on your device for a longer period. Heirloom Desk uses localStorage to remember your cookie preferences.
2. Types of Cookies We Use
We group the cookies on this site into four categories:
These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They are typically set in response to actions you take, such as filling in a form or setting a language preference. Without these, parts of the site would not work. Duration: session
These help us understand how visitors move around the site — which pages are visited most often and how people arrive. The information is collected in summary form and does not identify individuals. An example is Google Analytics. Duration: up to 2 years
These cookies are used to make advertising messages more relevant to you. They perform functions such as preventing the same advertisement from appearing repeatedly. They may be set by advertising networks we work with. Duration: up to 1 year
These allow the website to remember choices you make — such as language or region — so that it can offer you a more personalised experience on return visits. Duration: up to 1 year
3. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on this site are placed by third-party services. We do not control these cookies directly. The services that may set them include:
- Google Analytics — for website usage statistics. Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Maps — an embedded map for our location. Google's Privacy Policy.
- Social media platforms — if you share content from this site via social buttons.
We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of these third parties for full details of how they use data.
4. Cookie Duration
Cookies fall into two groups by how long they persist:
- Session cookies — these are temporary and are removed from your device when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies — these remain on your device for a set period (typically between 30 days and 2 years, depending on the purpose) or until you delete them manually.
Your consent preferences, stored in localStorage, remain on your device until you clear your browser data or change them here.
5. Your Cookie Preferences
You can adjust your preferences below. Essential cookies are always active and cannot be turned off. Changes take effect immediately and are saved to your browser.

7. Your Rights and Choices
- Right to withdraw consent: You may change or withdraw your cookie preferences at any time using the toggles in Section 5 above. Withdrawing consent does not affect any processing that took place before you withdrew it.
- Right to access information: You may request information about the personal data we hold about you at any time by contacting us.
- Effect of disabling cookies: If you disable optional cookies, certain features of the site may work less well. Disabling all cookies may prevent some pages from displaying correctly. Essential functions will remain available.
